Rock Climbing In India
Before we begin talking about climbing in India, let us warn you that India is as big as Europe, or Texas and Louisiana combined in terms of its area. Its geography displays a diversity matched only by the diversity of its people, with the great Himalayas in the north, a volcanic plateau in the south and several mountain ranges along the coasts as well as in parts of the interior.
This diversity is reflected in the various types of rock in India. As a result, the possibilities for climbing in India are vast and to a large part unexplored. In this article, I will outline the climbing areas that have already been well established in India and only give you a hint of the other possibilities in unexplored areas. Bon appetit!
Climb 24 x 7
Rock climbing can be undertaken throughout the year. India is a vast country and different parts of the country have different climatic conditions. Although you can practice rock climbing in most parts of the country, the fact remains that the Himalayan region provides the best rock-climbing challenges to the professional. April to June are the ideal months to practice this sport in the Himalayas.
In Delhi, the winter months are better than the rest of the year for rock climbing as the summers can be very very hot. The weather in South India is ideal for rock climbing throughout the year. November to April is good time for climbing in Western Ghat, the typical season starts after the rainy season.
In the end one can say Climb 24 x 7 in India !

What's your Style?
Climbing is all about balance, knowing your body and being able to reposition it in space. It's about creativity, learning to adapt to what the rock has to offer. It's a whole-body exercise and though your upper body gets a fair share of grunt work, your legs and feet are your most important instrument for upward motion. It's about concentration and overcoming your fears for the void. It's all about discovering the natural world around and within you.Climbing is not all about strength anyway.
Climbing styles include: bouldering, indoor climbing, free rock climbing, trad rock climbing, solo climbing aid climbing, ice climbing and alpine climbing.Climbing is both an individualistic and social sport: when you're on the rock you can only count on your skills to get to the top. If you do fall however, you'll have to trust your climbing partner with your life. Beyond question. No mistakes allowed. This often makes for very strong bonds and relationships.
Bouldering addicts climb short jumbles of rock, often only a couple of feet high. The key here is linking the moves: because of their short height bouldering problems tend to be fairly intense and technical. It's hundreds of feet of difficulty compressed into 5-10 moves.
